This roasted green tea from Japan is gaining in popularity for its smooth, toasty flavor. Unlike traditional Japanese green teas, the leaves are roasted after they are steamed. Roasting decreases the bitterness typically found in green tea and decreases the caffeine content as well as tannins. Hojicha has a naturally sweet and smoky flavor with notes of cocoa. Brewing instructions- infuse in 95 C water for 30 seconds to one minute, always add water to the tea, not the reverse! 1 cup water to 1 tbsp / 2.5 g of tea.
Can be used for multiple infusions, we prefer the second and third infusions!
Pairs well with chocolate or richer dishes.
